The layout isn't as well presented as Windows Live Messenger's Facebook view and doesn't prioritize your news feed as the social network's own site does.Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard is an upgrade to the previous version of OS X Leopard. The aforementioned Facebook integration lets you view your Facebook newsfeed, post text-only updates, and call friends if their phone numbers or Skype IDs are in their Facebook profiles. Premium account holders also receive group chat (another killer feature well worth the five-spot) and live customer service support. Screen sharing is one of the most useful (and cool) premium features-I shared my screen with a contact while viewing his screen in another window. Skype Premium and ExtrasUpgrading to the $4.99 per month Skype Premium expands the service's functionality. Unfortunately, texting is a one way street the recipient can't reply to your Skype account with an SMS. Skype lets customers send SMS messages, too, for 11.2 cents each (in America, and even less for some international destinations). Online Numbers, unfortunately, don't provide local emergency number calls, so you can't use one to dial 911 in a pinch. It's much cheaper than getting a landline, at $18 for three months (or $60 per year), with a 50 percent discount if you have a subscription (which start at $2.99 per month). If you're looking to ditch your landline, consider purchasing an Online Number, a telephone number that anyone can call from a regular phone. As such, Skype offers more flexibility than Apple's FaceTime (Free, 4 stars), which locks users within the OS X and iOS ecosystem. You can also dial regular phones anywhere in the world, while still receiving the same high-quality reception. You can also take a snapshot of the video image. During a call, you can also instant message, text message, send a file, or share contacts. Skype recommends that users' internet connections move at a minimum 1.5MBps speed in order to achieve quality HD video, otherwise you shouldn't expect broadcast quality. Video calls were also excellent, especially if all parties have fast connections and HD camera.
Voice calling is crisp and clear-far superior to most cell phone calls.

Voice and Video CallingSkype offers free PC-to-PC calls, even with video. In order for you be listed in another user's contacts requires mutual acceptances. Skype's privacy settings let you accept incoming calls from anyone, or restrict incoming calls to just people in your contact list (these rules also apply to video and screen sharing). The images, unless they're of particularly high resolution, look slightly blurry and pixilated. Contacts' names are displayed in a vertical alignment, but you can also view them in a grid that displays their profile photos. It's Skype Home where you can view your address book, Facebook, people who are currently online, and Skype contacts. Once you're logged into Skype with your credentials, a large window opens with a contact column on the left and a main content, Skype Home, on the right. Note: You need a Mac with a 1-GHz CPU and running OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) or newer. A welcome screen walks you through the steps you need to get fully set up with your webcam, mic, and address book.
You simply enter your country, select a language, input an email address, and choose a desired username and password. Setup and InterfaceInstalling Skype and setting up an account is a simple affair.
